Purpose
Set your SMTP accounts, proxy servers, signatures and other preferences for using AMSBE, writing messages and sending wishes.
Open Method
Click the corresponding module link in 'Options & tools' group on the main interface.

SMTP Accounts
- Manages your SMTP accounts, to send your emails, you must create a SMTP account at least.
If you created more than one SMTP accounts, you will get the following benefits:
Selecting the available SMTP account to send wishes automatically if the default is unavailable.
- [SMTP server] - the address of SMTP server, supports IP address and host name.
- [Port] - the port of SMTP server, default: 25, between 1 and 65,535.
- [eMail address] - your email address on the SMTP server. The most SMTP servers use it to authentication, so you should input your actual email address.
- <Add ->> - adds a new SMTP account, it supports creating the popular SMTP accounts directly, such as Gmail, Hotmail.
- <Edit...> - edits the selected SMTP account.
- <Copy...> - duplicates the selected SMTP account.
- <Delete> - deletes the selected SMTP account(s) <Del>.
- <Default> - sets the selected SMTP account as default.
Tips: if you have not set the following macros, AMSBE will set them according to the default SMTP account settings.
{My first name}, {My last name}, {My full name}, {My email address}.
Proxy Servers
- Manages your proxy servers, if your computer can not connect to the SMTP server directly in your LAN, you can use the bold proxy server to connect to the SMTP server.
If you created more than one proxy servers, you will get the following benefits:
Selecting the available proxy server to connect to the SMTP server automatically if the default is unavailable.
- Connect to your SMTP servers through the default proxy server. - check it to use the bold proxy server to connect to your SMTP servers. Default: unchecked.
Tips: if you need to send emails through the proxy server (checked it), please create one proxy server at least.
- [Address] - the address of proxy server, supports IP address and host name.
- [Port] - the port of proxy server, default: 1080, between 1 and 65,535.
- [User] - your user name on the proxy server.
- <Add...> - adds a new proxy server.
- <Edit...> - edits the selected proxy server.
- <Copy...> - duplicates the selected proxy server.
- <Delete> - deletes the selected proxy server(s) <Del>.
- <Default> - sets the selected proxy server as default.
Signatures
- Manages your signatures, supports 'Text' and 'File' modes, you can use a HTML file as the signature to make a rich text signature.
- Add the default signature to all outgoing messages. - check it to add the default signature into your new message automatically. Default: checked.
- <Macro ->> - inserts the selected macro into current 'Text' signature, to use macro in your 'File' signatures, please insert it into 'Text' signature first, and then copy its name and paste it into your files.
- <Add...> - adds a new signature.
- <Rename...> - renames the selected signature.
- <Delete> - deletes the selected signature <Del>.
- <Default> - sets the selected signature as default.
- Text - sets current item as text signature.
- File - sets current item as file signature, you can click the picture buttons to choose a signature file or view the selected file.
Preferences
- Sets your preferences for using AMSBE, writing messages and sending wishes.
- Startup position - sets where do you want to place AMSBE after it was opened, includes 'Normal' and 'System tray', default: 'Normal'.
- eMail type - sets the default format for the content of the new message, default: 'Plain Text'.
- Font name - sets the default font name for the email editor and/or content of new message, for the plain text message, it only affects email editor (because the plain text message does not have the font name property for email content). Default: Verdana.
- Font size - sets the default font size for the email editor and/or content of new message, for the plain text message, it only affects email editor (because the plain text message does not have the font size property for email content). Default: 10.
- Date format - sets the date format for the related macros (includes {Festival Date} and {Birthday of the Recipient}), default: MMMM dd.
- Male title & Female title - sets the titles of male and female for {Male/Female Title} macro, default: Mr. & Ms..
- CC me to - if you want to get a copy of every wish, please check it and specify one of your email addresses. Default: unchecked.
Tips: cannot use the email address of your default SMTP account as [CC me to] address due to a few SMTP servers reject sending emails to self.
- Sending time - sets when you want to START to send the wishes every day. Format: HH:mm, default: 00:00.
- Sends greetings on birthdays/festivals - if you want to send wishes on birthdays or festival days, please check it. Default: unchecked.
- Sends greetings ahead (days) - if you want to send wishes before birthdays or festivals, please check it and specify the days in advance. Scope: 1 - 9, default: 1.
- Brings sending forward to Friday if the sending date on weekend - check it can sending wish on Friday if its sending date on weekend. If you turn off your computer on weekend usually, it is very useful. Default: checked.
- Maximal resending times if failed - sets how many times do you want to resend the failed sendings. Scope: 0 - 9 (0 = no try), default: 1.
- Resending interval (minutes) - sets the interval (minutes) for adjacent resendings. Scope: 10 - 120, default: 60.
- Sending method of season's greetings - sets the sending method for season's greetings, you can choose 'To', 'BCC' or 'One by one', default: One by one.
- Maximum of recipients in a season's greetings (if over, it will be split) - usually, SMTP servers limit the maximum of recipients in one message, so, if you want to send season's greeting to many people, you should specify this value to let AMSBE splits the recipients. Please contact your SMTP provider to know about the specific value if necessary. Scope: 50 - 1,000, default: 96.
Tips: it is only available for 'To' and 'BCC' season's greetings sending methods.
- Sending interval (seconds) for one by one mode in season's greetings - sets a delay between each message in the one by one sending. Usually, it is used to disencumber the frequency limitation for a few (E)SMTP servers. Scope: 0 - 60 (0 = no pause, fastest), default: 0.
Tips
1. It is only available for 'One by one' season's greetings sending methods.
2. We do not recommend you change it, unless you got a lot of failed delivery and caused by the related reasons.
3. A few (E)SMTP servers will consider you sending spam if you send more than 100 messages per hour. Now, you can completely control it by utilizing this option.
Commands Reference
- <Test> - tests connection and logon for the selected item, please wait a few seconds for the testing result.
Tips: this command only displays on the 'Proxy Servers' and 'SMTP accounts' tab pages.
- <Save> - saves your changes.
- <Restore> - restores the default settings (except the lists).
- <Cancel> - cancels your changes and closes this dialog box <Esc>.
